Man Used Sewer Lid to Steal State Mustang Mach-E

A 29-year-old Delaware man, Isiah Worthy, has been arrested after a bizarre theft involving a state-owned Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle. Worthy allegedly broke into two government office buildings using a steel sewer lid as a tool, then stole the car after locating key fobs inside.

The Break-Ins

At approximately 3:50 p.m. on [Date], police responded to an alarm at 600 South Bar Road in Dover. The suspect forced entry into the first facility with the sewer lid, causing property damage and stealing an unspecified amount of cash.

Investigators soon discovered a second break-in at the nearby Office of Management and Budget – Fleet Services. Again, the sewer lid was used to gain access. This time, the suspect stole key fobs to a Ford Mustang Mach-E and drove off in the vehicle.

The Getaway and Capture

The suspect’s escape was short-lived. Worthy crashed the stolen Mustang into two parked cars while fleeing the scene. He also abandoned a bank bag filled with stolen money in the parking lot.

Police easily tracked the vehicle due to its built-in GPS tracker, locating it abandoned on Carpenter’s Bridge Road. Officers found Worthy walking nearby, matching the suspect’s description. He was arrested, and additional stolen cash was recovered during a search.

Charges Filed

Isiah Worthy now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Two counts of burglary in the third degree
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of burglary tools
  • Wearing a disguise during a felony
  • Theft under $1,500
  • Three counts of criminal mischief

The case highlights the absurdity of some criminal acts, as well as the effectiveness of modern vehicle tracking systems in recovering stolen property
