Chinese automaker GAC is expanding into Australia with a range of vehicles, including the fully electric Aion V SUV. Priced from $42,590 before on-road costs, the Aion V positions itself as a competitor to established electric vehicles like the BYD Atto 3 ($39,990) and rivals such as the Geely EX5 ($40,990) and Leapmotor C10 ($45,888).
The Aion V will be available in Premium and Luxury trim levels, both powered by a 150kW/210Nm front-mounted electric motor paired with a 75.26kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

The base Premium trim boasts a generous standard kit, including a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a large 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Luxury trim stands out with an unusual inclusion: a 6.6-liter refrigerator capable of holding up to 12 cans, maintaining a steady 4°C temperature using 0.5kWh of electricity over 24 hours, and adjustable from -15°C to 50°C.
Powertrain and Dimensions
Both Aion V variants utilize the same front-wheel drive electric powertrain. Exact dimensions have not been specified beyond its mid-size SUV classification.
Safety and Warranty
The GAC Aion V has received a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, achieving scores of 88% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant protection, 79% for vulnerable road user protection, and 78% for safety assist. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and surround-view camera.
GAC offers an eight-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty on its electric models, with servicing details yet to be announced.
