Ford Ranger Super Duty: The $65K Premium Work Truck

4

Ford is expanding the Ranger Super Duty lineup with a new premium XLT trim and a lifestyle-focused pickup body style, targeting customers who demand both capability and refinement. Priced up to AU$99,990 (US$65,600) in Australia, this upgraded version bridges the gap between a rugged work truck and a comfortable touring vehicle.

New Trim Level & Body Style

The XLT trim adds significant comfort features, including leather seats with heating and ventilation, upgraded carpeting, and 18-inch alloy wheels. This is aimed at “recreational off-roaders” who don’t want to sacrifice comfort for capability.

Alongside the XLT, Ford is now offering a factory-fitted pickup bed – a major addition to the existing chassis cab options. The pickup variant features wider fender flares that match the truck’s aggressive front-end design.

Enhanced Features & Accessories

Beyond the XLT trim, Ford is introducing several new options. These include:

  • Exterior Options: Traction Green paint, canopies with Dual Lift or Lift & Slide sides, and an Aeroklas Twin in-bed drawer system.
  • Commercial Upgrades: Buyers can also choose basic commercial canopies, rock sliders, and a dual battery system.
  • Tech Features: An 8.9-inch digital rearview mirror is now available.

Unmatched Towing & Off-Road Capability

The Ranger Super Duty stands out with its class-leading 4,500 kg (9,921 lb) towing capacity, rivaling even the larger F-150. Upgraded chassis and suspension provide wider tracks and increased ground clearance, enabling a wading depth of 850 mm (33.5 in) thanks to the standard snorkel and beefier tires.

The truck is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine tuned to deliver 207 hp (154 kW / 209 PS) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. A 10-speed automatic gearbox and a full-time 4WD system with front and rear differential locks ensure optimal traction in challenging conditions.

Pricing and Availability

The Ranger Super Duty Double Cab Pick-Up starts at AU$93,990 (US$61,600), while the top-spec XLT trim reaches AU$99,990 (US$65,600). The base Single Cab-Chassis trim begins at AU$82,990 (US$54,400).

Ford Australia is currently taking orders, with first deliveries expected in mid-2026. However, there are no current plans to sell this beefed-up truck in North America or Europe.

“This is the truck for the customer who needs to tow a heavy work trailer or carry a massive payload during the week, but wants to load up the tub and head off-road with the family on the weekend,” said Ambrose Henderson, Marketing Director at Ford Australia.

The Ranger Super Duty’s blend of work-ready toughness and premium features positions it uniquely in the midsize pickup market, offering a compelling option for buyers who demand versatility without compromise.
