Kia EV2: New Electric Crossover Priced Under £25,000

Kia has launched its smallest electric vehicle to date, the EV2, in the UK market. The compact crossover enters a competitive segment, challenging models like the Renault 4, Peugeot E-2008, and Jeep Avenger.

Pricing and Incentives

The EV2 starts at £24,245 for the base Air trim equipped with a 61kWh battery. Kia is currently offsetting the uncertainty around government grants by providing its own price reductions: a £3,750 “Reservation Saving” for models expected to qualify for the UK’s Electric Car Grant, and a £1,500 discount on smaller-battery versions. This makes it competitive against rivals, such as the Ford Puma Gen-E.

Trim Levels and Battery Options

Kia offers the EV2 in four trim levels: Air, First Edition, GT-Line, and GT-Line S. The EV2 comes with two battery options: a 42.2kWh standard-range pack (exclusive to the First Edition) and a 61kWh long-range battery. Both options drive the front wheels.

Key Features by Trim

  • Air (£24,245): Basic but functional with chrome accents, heated seats, and 16-inch wheels.
  • First Edition (£26,995): Adds LED headlights, flush door handles, electric seat adjustment, ambient lighting, and an upgraded Harman Kardon sound system.
  • GT-Line (£28,995): Sportier styling with 19-inch wheels and aggressive bumpers.
  • GT-Line S (£32,595): Top-tier trim with a sunroof, ventilated seats, and a power tailgate.

Production and Availability

Production of the larger-battery EV2 has begun in Slovakia. Kia expects these models to qualify for the £3,750 Government Electric Car Grant. First deliveries are scheduled for later this year.

The EV2 represents a key step in Kia’s expansion of its EV lineup, making electric mobility more accessible to a broader audience. The pricing strategy, combined with the vehicle’s features, positions it strongly against established rivals in the compact EV market.
