Cadillac Brings Connected Services to Australia, Updates Existing Vehicles

7

Cadillac has expanded its suite of connected car features to Australia and New Zealand, ensuring all new vehicles will include the technology and providing complimentary updates for existing owners. This move brings the luxury brand in line with global standards and offers a range of digital conveniences previously unavailable in the region.

Key Features and Benefits

The “Cadillac Connected Services” package encompasses mobile app integration, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, and integrated infotainment powered by Google built-in. This includes Google Maps, Google Assistant, and access to apps via the Google Play Store – streamlining navigation and digital entertainment. Smart routing is also included, with Google Maps proactively suggesting charging stops for electric vehicle owners.

Beyond the car itself, the smartphone app provides remote access to vehicle status (location, charge level), and control over essential functions like locks, lights, and climate control. Cadillac will provide eight years of complimentary connectivity from the vehicle’s initial registration date.

Update Rollout for Existing Owners

Cadillac is proactively offering the update to existing customers. The company will work with them on a case-by-case basis to schedule convenient appointments through Cadillac Service locations, Mobile Service vans, or certified partners, including pick-up/drop-off options. While the initial update requires a physical service visit, future software updates will be delivered over-the-air.

Strategic Alignment with Global Markets

This expansion helps align Australian Cadillacs with their U.S. counterparts, which have long featured connected services. Notably, Cadillac Australia has confirmed it will not follow the controversial decision made in the American market to remove Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless versions of both smartphone integration systems will remain standard on models like the Lyriq, Optiq, and Vistiq.

The Rise of Connected Car Tech

The introduction of Cadillac Connected Services reflects a growing trend in the automotive industry. While commonplace in the U.S. for years, connected car features have been slower to arrive in Australia. This move positions Cadillac alongside brands like Tesla and other automakers that now prioritize digital integration as a key selling point.

The expansion will apply to the current Lyriq electric SUV, as well as the upcoming Lyriq-V, Optiq, and Vistiq models scheduled for release in 2026. This signals Cadillac’s commitment to providing a modern, digitally-connected experience for its customers in the region.
