Hyundai has updated its Verna sedan, sold in India as a successor to the discontinued Accent in many markets. The mid-lifecycle refresh brings styling changes and new features previously reserved for larger, more expensive vehicles, bolstering its competitive edge.

Exterior Refinements
The Verna receives a revised front bumper with a black chrome grille and more aggressive air intakes. The signature full-width LED light bar remains, though the split headlights now feature a slightly enlarged lower section. At the rear, a bolder diffuser with a metallic garnish is added, with an optional spoiler available. Two new exterior colors – Classy Blue and Titan Grey Matte – expand the palette.
Interior Upgrades
Inside, the Verna retains its familiar layout but gains a redesigned steering wheel. The dual 10.25-inch infotainment screens remain, though they are smaller than those found in the Venue SUV. Despite this, Hyundai claims they are the largest in the sedan segment.
New Comfort and Tech Features
Hyundai is advertising several segment-first additions, including an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system, a built-in dashcam, rear sunshades, and a smart trunk. Higher trims also offer an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat with memory and ventilation, wireless charging, leatherette upholstery, and an electric sunroof. The sedan boasts the longest wheelbase (2,670 mm) and largest boot space (528 liters) in its class. Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) is also available.
Powertrain Options
The Verna continues with two gasoline engines: a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter producing 113 hp and a turbocharged version delivering 158 hp. The base model is paired with a six-speed manual or CVT, while the turbo engine uses a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Pricing and Availability
The updated Hyundai Verna is now available for order in India, priced between ₹1,098,400 ($11,900) and ₹1,825,400 ($19,800). Hyundai also sells the cheaper i10-based Aura sedan in India, starting at ₹599,990 ($6,500).
Hyundai’s strategic move to elevate the Verna with premium features underscores the growing demand for well-equipped compact sedans in emerging markets. By filling the gap left by the Accent, the Verna now offers a compelling blend of style, comfort, and technology.
