The Fiat Topolino Hits the US. It Is Tiny. It Costs Less Than A New Mattress.

2

Fiat finally launched.

The Topolino is here. Prices start at $14,985. Yes. Really.

You want range? You get 46 miles. Speed? Cap at 25 mph. It’s an electric vehicle that moves at a pace that respects the elderly. Or pedestrians. Whichever.

Here’s the catch. You can’t drive it on the street yet. Not legally anyway. Fiat says a conversion kit coming this fall will fix that. Until then. Private property only.

It is not a car. It is a vibe.

Two Doors. Or No Doors. Your Call.

The standard Topolino has asymmetrical doors. One hinged left. One right. There is also a panoramic glass sunroof. It looks nice. The Topolino Dolce Vita ditches the doors entirely. They are replaced by rope barriers. Like a beach cabana on wheels. It has a roll-up soft-top roof.

Both cost the exact same money. $14,985. No options. Just choose your roof style. And that’s it.

Every single unit in the US comes in Verde Vita green. They wear retro wheel covers. The size is… modest.

  • 99.6 inches long
  • 56.4 inches wide
  • 61.2 inches high
  • 1,073 pounds

Inside, it is sparse. A digital gauge. A phone holder. A USB-C port. There is a luggage rack on the back. Is it enough storage for groceries? Probably. Is it enough for a sofa? Definitely not.

The Engine. If You Can Call It That.

A single front-mounted motor produces 8 horsepower. It takes that energy and converts it into 19 mph under standard conditions. The battery is 5 kWh. Tiny. Charging takes about five hours with a 2.3 kW plug.

Who wants to charge this thing. You?

It won’t take long to fill up. It also won’t go anywhere fast.

Street Legal Soon. Sort Of.

In Europe, this thing is a quadricycle. Here in the States, it starts as off-road. Private estates. Gated communities. That’s it for now.

But wait. Fall 2026 brings change. Fiat is releasing a street-legal conversion kit. This kit changes the classification to Low Speed Vehicle. Now you can drive on public roads.

The kit adds a few things the stock model lacks:
– Rearview mirror
– Backup camera
– Pedestrian alert system

It also bumps the top speed up to 25 mph. Best part? The kit is free. No extra cost. Just show up with your Topolino.

Fiat says this little box on wheels is perfect for “short, leisurely cruises.” Think resorts. Yacht clubs. Beach towns. Music festivals. Places where speed is not the goal. Chill is the goal.

Limited 2026 models are available. Select dealers only. You can order one now. Deposit is $2,500.

The first Topolinos just landed in the US last week. They arrived with a whisper. Or maybe a hum. Very quiet hum.

Do you want one. Will you use it to go to the corner store. Or will it just sit in your garage. Looking cute.
