This revival comes after the model was unexpectedly renewed for the 2026 model year with another facelift, despite earlier indications of its impending end.
A Second Life Through Electrification
The current IS was expected to conclude production with the 2025 “Ultimate Edition,” yet Lexus extended its run into 2026. Now, the brand appears poised to transform the IS into a fully electric offering, leveraging the momentum of its EV strategy. This shift aligns with the broader industry trend towards electrification, as automakers phase out internal combustion engines in favor of zero-emission alternatives.
Design and Performance Expectations
The next-generation IS EV is anticipated to draw heavily from Lexus’ 2023 LF-ZC concept, which the company previously stated would enter production by 2026.
